Position full sun soil poor, freely draining soil the leaves of russian tarragon have a milder flavour than the french, but the plants are much more robust and easy to grow and they will also have a greater chance of setting seed. Their leaves have an anise like flavour, which can be picked and used to enhance the flavour of fish, eggs, chicken and potatoes, while the seeds are delicious added to sauces. Growing instructions from late winter, sow seeds into pots or trays under glass, or sow directly into freely draining, poor soils where they will receive plenty of sun from mid to late spring. Prick out seedlings as they grow to allow approximately 45cm between each plant and pinch the plants back regularly to encourage compact, bushy growth. Cut the plants back hard each autumn and avoid excessive winter wet. Congested plants can be lifted and divided every second year. Sow february may harvest may november approximate quantity 300 seeds.
